Google Doodle

2024
As part of a motion design assignment, I created a Google Doodle for International Sneakers Day — a celebration of creativity, culture, and individuality expressed through sneakers. The Doodle needed to be both fun and recognizably 'Google', following the company's color system and playful design language.
The task was to design and animate a short, looping Doodle between 10 and 20 seconds, inspired by Google’s iconic homepage animations. I chose Sneakers Day because it represents self-expression and movement — both key ideas in design and animation. Each sneaker corresponds to one of Google’s colors, hanging playfully on a line with a small bird balancing in the middle. The goal was to create a simple but dynamic scene that felt alive, warm, and instantly recognizable.
The final Doodle animation combines rhythm, character, and minimal storytelling in a joyful motion loop. It successfully captures Google’s friendly personality while celebrating a cultural symbol of individuality. The use of subtle secondary animation — such as the bird’s small movements and the sway of the sneakers — helps bring the still scene to life without overwhelming it.

This project taught me how strong visual identity can be expressed even in a few seconds of motion. It helped me refine my sense of timing and understand how to evoke emotion through small details like anticipation and rhythm. Designing for a brand as iconic as Google was a great exercise in staying simple, smart, and joyful.
